The recurrence passages make affirmation more demanding than optimism about the future. The question concerns a life that includes what Zarathustra finds hardest to bear. His resistance is part of the drama. A summary that makes him immediately delighted by recurrence would remove the problem through which the thought is developed.

There is an objection that cannot be settled by enthusiasm. What would it mean to affirm a whole that includes another person's suffering? One person's willingness to affirm their own existence does not automatically authorize harm to someone else. A defensible response must distinguish an attitude toward existence from a justification of particular conduct.

That distinction is a critical question for the reader, rather than a solution the chapter can simply attribute to Nietzsche. The book's images can make an attitude intelligible without settling every ethical objection to it. Admiring their force does not exempt their implications from scrutiny.

The same caution applies to the Übermensch. A person may announce independence while relying on others to bear the costs. The announcement alone does not show that they have overcome themselves. It remains necessary to examine the relations through which their chosen life is sustained.
