As your agent becomes more useful, usage will grow. More users, more requests, more data. Maintenance includes preparing for this growth.

Watch your metrics over time. Is usage growing? How fast? This helps you anticipate when you'll need to scale up resources or optimize performance.

For example, if you're handling 100 requests per day now and that's growing 20% per month, you'll be at 200 requests per day in about four months. Plan accordingly.

Scale Proactively

Don't wait until your agent is struggling to scale. If you see growth trends pointing toward capacity limits, scale up before you hit them.

This might mean:

  • Upgrading to a larger server instance
  • Adding more agent instances (horizontal scaling)
  • Optimizing expensive operations
  • Implementing caching

Proactive scaling prevents user-facing performance problems.

Archive Old Data

As your agent runs longer, data accumulates. Conversation logs, metrics, user data. Eventually this affects performance and costs.

Implement a data retention policy. For example:

  • Keep detailed logs for 30 days
  • Keep aggregated metrics for 1 year
  • Archive or delete older data

This keeps your database lean and queries fast.
